I created the website for A.O.K. Panionios Lerou, a basketball club on the Greek island of Leros, as a contribution to the team. The work continued after the initial build: helping the club publish its news, present its activities and keep useful information within reach of players, families and supporters.
A basketball club website with a local identity
The site brings the club’s crest, team photography and Greek content together in one place. Visitors can explore the club, browse its gallery, read news, find sponsorship information and contact the team. The homepage also gives space to players, match videos and championship schedules. For this project, the content needed to reflect the everyday life of a sports club: activity on the court and the community around it.
Practical improvements after the launch
My January 2025 support work included resolving an issue that prevented saved changes from appearing publicly, helping with content editing and correcting the footer’s club-history link so visitors reached the intended information. I also set up a three-image slideshow with control over the display order. These were specific requests from the people using the website, and the changes made the existing site more useful to them.
In February 2025, I helped simplify a news item’s video presentation and accompanying text. Instead of leaving the article cluttered with separate video elements, the work brought its video content into a clearer YouTube link and tightened the wording. That kind of ongoing support matters when a club has fresh results, events and announcements to publish throughout a season.
Making room for the club’s community work
The club’s activities extend beyond basketball. I added a dedicated ΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΚΟ ΕΡΓΟ area for community stories, with text, photographs and videos, and adjusted its label styling to sit more consistently alongside the news section. In March 2025, I added a route to browse the wider collection of posts. The live homepage now shows community stories including recycling activities involving the club’s young players.

Search visibility, measured rather than assumed
I also integrated Google Analytics as part of the recorded support work. For this case study, I separately checked the website’s verified HTTPS property in Google Search Console. For 17 July–16 October 2026, Google Web Search reported 171 clicks, approximately 1,040 impressions, a 16.4% click-through rate and an average position of 5.5.
These figures describe that reporting period. They are not a before-and-after comparison or a claim that every search term ranks on the first page. They give the club a dated reference for its organic search visibility, alongside the practical content and navigation work documented for the project.
Website support that continues with the team
This project began with building a website for the club and developed into ongoing help with real publishing needs. The result is a central place for club information, basketball news and community activity, supported by a developer who knows how the site is used.
