In this project

Odelalis.gr is a local news publisher serving Katerini and Pieria. The owner asked me to take over the website’s technical care, with a clear brief: faster, more reliable hosting and responsive technical support for a site that publishes throughout the day.

The brief: dependable support for a busy news website

For this project, I took responsibility for an existing WordPress website. Readers needed easy access to the latest stories, while the publishing team needed practical support when technical questions arose. The work brought hosting, performance and ongoing SEO into one continuing relationship.

Performance work shaped around daily publishing

A news website has a particular balance to maintain. Caching can make pages quicker to serve, while newly published stories still need to appear promptly. Advertising and a substantial archive also form part of the everyday workload.

I worked through the migration and performance checks with that publishing pattern in mind. The project records cover caching behaviour, WordPress response times and resource handling under load. The aim throughout was quicker page delivery and a more dependable experience for readers and editors.

A PageSpeed Insights review on 17 October 2026 reported mobile real-user loading figures of 1.9 seconds for Largest Contentful Paint, 1.1 seconds for First Contentful Paint and 0.4 seconds for Time to First Byte, for its latest 28-day reporting period. These are a dated loading snapshot; performance care continues across loading, interaction and layout stability.

Technical support remains part of the service, giving the owner a direct point of contact for the website’s ongoing care.

Ongoing SEO for Katerini and Pieria searches

Our ongoing SEO work focuses on how people search for local news in Katerini and Pieria. The project work has included reviewing homepage search wording, category organisation, article metadata and internal links, with relevant Greek search terms used naturally.

The live homepage now describes its coverage clearly with “Κατερίνη & Πιερία: Ειδήσεις, Νέα & Αγγελίες”. That connects the publisher’s identity with the area and subjects its readers are looking for.

Search visibility: hundreds of queries in the top 10

A Google Search Console review for 17 September–14 October 2026 showed 500 displayed search queries with average positions between 1.0 and 6.1 in Google Web Search. This provides a dated, measurable view of the website’s strong search visibility.

The query set includes branded searches and spelling variations. These are average positions across the reporting period; results vary by query, location, device and date. The visibility reflects the publisher’s ongoing editorial output alongside the website’s technical care and SEO work.

A continuing partnership for an established local publisher

The project combines WordPress hosting, performance work, technical support and ongoing SEO for a publication with a clear regional audience. The focus remains practical: helping people reach the news, supporting the team behind it and continuing to improve how the website appears in search.
